HI,
My inside door handle on drivers side needed to be replaced and I decided to just go ahead and replace the latch assembly as well. Issue that I'm having is that the 'stick'(for lack of better word) on the door handle that pushes the latch assembly lever up to open door is not long enough. When I pull on door handle, it will engage the latch but then slip out and lever on latch goes down before being able to open door.
They are both new parts and I was having same issue before I replaced them.
Any suggestions on how to possibly fix this?
Thanks

Re: Door Opener/Latch Issues
It's hard to diagnose over the computer but I'll ask some questions.
Does the door work good from the outside handle ?
You said it did this with the old parts , maybe the latch is worn or the rod that goes to the latch is bent or wrong ?
can you pull on the rod and open the door easy ?
Did you lube the latch good ?
This is more work , but maybe look inside the other door and compare how it works ?
There are images in the tech section that may help
Re reading your post did you change the latch that holds the door shut to the striker bolt ?

Re: Door Opener/Latch Issues
Sounds like your door panel is too thick. Try putting the inside door handle on without the door panel or plastic cup. See if it reaches.
