side/toolbox rattles badly

Post by dougself »

so the door on the sidebox has an adjustment, but if I set it back so it does not rattle it does not sit flush with the body. did these things have little rubber baby bumpers to prevent the rattle? I have tried every adjustment to make it not rattle.. thinking of heating up the latch and bending it a little. thoughts ?

They had a gasket glued to the door that sealed the compartment and prevented rattles. Good luck finding the gasket as I've been searching for one for 25 years

Any idea what size/type the gasket was originally?

The size would be the same as the inner lip of the toolbox. It looked like a trunk weatherstrip

Wow, excellent. Thank you!!

The 83-0131-73 part number looks very close to the original although the original was glued with adhesive. I'm going to order this and try
