horn issues

Post by joe hermanek »

I have 1971 ford f-250 with lots of wiring issues I'll start with the horn I have a horn bar took that off & the steering wheel as well,
the spring contact is broke so i need to get a new one no problem what the question is where do the 2 wires from the horn bar go i see a clip by the nut that holds the steering wheel on but dont know about the other if i take a screwdriver and ground the broken spring to the column the horn works so I thing everything up to the wheel is working
Second question is both turn signal lites work on the dash but it wont cancel itself when turning left, ok when its turning right, is it the switch itself
or could it be what looks like a cam of some sort that sits right on top

I thought one went to ground and the other to the contact block. I have problems on mine where the ground isn't grounded so no horn. PITA along with the windshield washers and E brake are on the list of things I never fixed.

Yes, turn signal cancelling cam probably broke on one side. https://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_truc ... r-kit.html

I figure that I'll replace the signal-cancelling cam and horn when I rebuild and install the power-steering hardware. I think I can schedule it in sometime in 2030.
