high temp filler

Post by fords_forlife »

hi, i've been a member for a long time but just lurk because i like the info but dont have a 67-72 truck yet untill i finish school (autobody through NWTC) and my '82 ford 4x4 swb flareside project. but i thought i would post this because i found a filler product that is suppose to with stand the higher temps seen while powder coating. I remember keith mentioning about trying to find a product that would fill some of the pits in his frame before being powdercoated. the company is Alvin Products ( www.AlvinProducts.com ) their " lab-metal " requires no mixing and can with stand temps to 350* and they have a high temp that when cured can with stand temps to 1000*. it comes in caulking tubes, pints, quarts, 1/2 gallon, gallon, and 5 gallon containers. While i haven't personly tested it, I learned about it in AutoRestorer Magazine (ad free but somewhat expensive it is very good all around mag) where they used it to fill a large hole and even drilled and tapped a hole in a chunk to show it is a very strong product. Just thought i should share this great info. by the way this is an awesome site!

Thanks. Thats sounds like the ticket to filling the pits in my bed pan. Now the only question is is it stronger(more chip Resistant) Than Bondo? I think we need that in the links page so we don't lose it.
