Whl locking

72 F100 4X4 seems like right frt whl locks up it has even slid the whl after backing out of a parking space.
I was going to work in it one morning and it popped real loud seemed to come from R/side latter on it did it again.Then that afternoon it locked the whls put it in 4whl but didn't lock hubs and it seemed to drive hm ok.It has a Dana in it but not sure of #.Where should I start looking.Maybe a brake pad has came loose are what?

Sounds like a locking hub problem??? Just guessing.

Finally got some fair weather as I'm a shade tree mechcanic.Anyway best I can tell it is a Dana model 21 and maybe a .and another # can't tell.Anyway having a hell of a time getting drum off.Everything seems to be not binding but I drove it down the road earlier and went to turn around when I backed up got some bad popping and seemed to be more gears than brakepad.

More easily diagnosed if you can get it up on jackstands with another person to help.

Wheel bearing is toast. Or brake lining has come apart.
