I can help a little, here's how I read it:
F10 - F100 4x2
C - 292 cid 2bbl. V8, 160hp, 8.0:1 compression ratio
K - Kansas City assembly plant
543170 - consecutive unit number, June 1964
81 - Chassis Cab (I think the "3" is part of the model number)
F - 4-speed Warner T98-A
B5 - 4.56:1 rear axle ratio

It's definatly a 61-66 vin. I think 64 is as late as it could be based in the engine digit.
F10-- F100 2wd
C-- 292 v8
k-- kansas city truck plant
I don't have a 60's decode book here at the house so I can't tell what the trans code is, but I can probably get it back this weekend (its loaned out)

thanks Barry it's a solid truck just needs a good sand job and some taillight lenses and a back window but other than that solid, what do you think would be a good price to offer? I don't know much about the 292 motor is it a good motor? the color is something less to look at that ugly light green but i would just put it in primer and put 5 star bob glidden rims on it and make it a sleeper, because i think i'm going to use my 76 f150 that i drive daily as a 4H truck for the kids going out and doing feed for there farm animal, after i get the front end bushings fixed which i really don't want to mess with but it's making an awful noise...thanks for your time....Terry

The 292 is the 272, 292, 312 Y family of engines. Had a 292 in a 56 Ford. Pretty simple to work on, if I remember. Overall probably not a bad engine.

Man those Y-blocks are as rock solid as they come!
I had a 63 F100 4X4 w/a 292 4v Holley from the factory.
The Y-block is not a thin wall casting and I believe that you can go up to .140 overbore on the cylinders without any worries.
If the beast has the 4 barrel intake (more common on the 312 than 292) you better snatch it up!
I would!

re: Vin help please on a 60's type truck?
so what your saying is the 292 is kinda like the 283 in the chevy motor but better? i just want to get it because i like that body style of truck but i'll chew the price down because the back window has plywood in it and the taillight has no lenes and the interior has alot of junk in it and the body is pretty tight not to much rust last time we were messing around with prices he wanted 600 which i'm going to shoot maybe 400 and see if he bites, also chewing with a guy on a maverick that looks like a little spirit but he said 1200 and i almost laughed at him because i thought maybe 400 since it's been sitting for 10 year with a wheel locked up and it has 96,000 orginial miles and the interior is mint, but thats another story.....Terry
