75 4X4 rear gastank (3/4 ton)
Not sure if this is where this belongs. If not, my apologies
Is the rear aux tank on a 75 4X4 3/4 the same size as the option listed on the gas tanks page? I do not know if the rear bed frame width is the same as is the 1/2 ton or if this take will work for the rear tank swap.
Thanks,
Bobby

Yes, the frame on '73-'77-1/2 Highboys has the same width as our trucks (34" outside to outside) so the rear auxiliary tanks on those trucks will work with our frames. (These Highboys still used the in-cab tank as a primary fuel supply, just like ours.)

Was the 3/4 ton frame wider? Or the same as the 1/2 of those same year models?
Thanks,
Bobby

The frame spacing was the same for 1/2- and 3/4-ton 4x4s.

would the tank on a 73 F100 work for you, mine has a tank inside the left fram and one above the spare tire? If so, maybe I can help you out.

is it a 73 4X4 ? The tanks are different from a 4X2 and a 4X4 because of frame widths.
Thanks,
Bobby

I think he was asking about the side-mounted in-frame auxiliary tank, not the rear main tank. I'm not sure if those will fit or not. I don't see why they wouldn't, but since those trucks have a slightly longer wheelbase, if the tank is just long enough to fit in front of the differential, then it might cause problems.
However, I'm just speculating here, since I've never had a chance to measure one and see how they're mounted.

re: 75 4X4 rear gastank (3/4 ton)
I see, I have the under cab aux tank and was looking into the rear aux tank.
I went back to take a look and the aux tank was gone from the 3/4.
Stopping by another place I did find a 75 1/2 4X4 that had its take in it it only has the rear tank, so it was a primary tank for it. The place wants $100 for it. Does that seem to high (I don't know the going rate on these things)
Also, it looks like a metal tank not the plastic one as soon in the Gas Tank Alternatives pages or the one that Keith picked up. Is this another tank option that will work in our 67 - 72's?
Thanks,
Bobby

in my opinion thats too much money for a used tank check with parts store for tank prices first. the straps sending until won't be that expensive used or new. but the sending unit i think is still a dealer only item. i've got a tank from a 78 1/2 ton its the rear tank and the sending unit for free if you want it but i don't know if it will fit. i can measure it if you like. sorry no straps. torched them.

for it to work in our trucks I think it has to come out of a 4X4 for it to fit the 67-72's, but thanks anyway.
