I posted some of these in the welcome section but i took a few more the other day. I just picked this truck up for $400 from a buddy who needed it gone. story was it was a desert race truck in the 70's in nevada and has a pretty decent long travel set-up. its my first Ford, bump and pre-smog truck, actually first vehicle with a carb too. pretty stoked to get it on the road again.
It handles the rough stuff pretty well! I have had it airborne a few time already but its time for it to get some lovin first. the engine is really tired (compression test gave numbers from 100psi to 25psi) so im gonna start a rebuild thread in the engine section (360 to 390FE), i need all the help i can get being new to fords!
so it begins...

That is pretty cool man, It has a lot of potential!
Here's some motivation (one of my trucks, but getting torn down right now to build it to the next level)
I have hundreds of pictures of 67-72 and several other 73-79 F100 prerunner pictures saved on my computer. I can't upload them all because that would take forever but I can upload a few shortbed flareside prerunners if you want.

yeah that would be great if ya posted a few! your truck looks great. After i get the motor back together im gonna freshen up the front suspension and there is alot of room left on the rear end to get more travel while staying under the bed. I will post some pics of the rear shackles and suspension when i get a chance. what beams are you using? and how much travel are you getting on the front? are you running 35in tires too? i wasn't sure if they would fit. Thanks!

I'll upload a few pictures in a bit.
You have a good old school setup. Swap those shocks out for bilstien 5100s (budget minded) and the rear i dont know what you have but if they are stock springs then ditch those for chevy 64 springs and build your own packs and get chevy lowering shackles and move the hangers. Then shocks will be the limiting factor in travel. With my 16" resi's I should be getting about 17" usable travel.
I'd think about putting limit straps on the front end too because you're just yanking the shocks apart when airborn. Also what does it have for bumpstops? you can go to the junkyard and find some good stock bumpstops off any SUV and put those on. Make sure you leave plenty room for hte rubber to fully compress before the shock is at full bump. Is that a glass hood or a metal hood with pins?
I am using a set of 1 ton f350 I-beams, bent and plated. If you ever upgrade the front end go to 1 ton beams, don't try using f100 or even f250 stuff. The f250 beams that I bent/plated (at the bend) at first got bent like crazy first race.
It gets 12" front travel, but not anymore. I am tearing hte truck down as we speak. Cuttting off my old shock mounting, the coil bucket, i-beam pivots. I am going to build an engine cage that ties into the cab cage at 4 points out of 2" DOM, which will support 2.5 14" coilovers that will give me about 17" usable travel up front. Also swapping on a set of Autofab beam mounts that widen the track width 2", and it's a must to build extended radius arms to get that amount of travel.
I run 35's. They fit great, but my truck isn't really stock either. The front fenders are autofab fiberglass fenders, and the rear I cut out the wheel well about 2" but you can't really tell because I just followed the original line and it came out pretty good. I'm cutting out the bed and hanging the bedsides this winter though. You can make 35's fit on your truck. Run a 7" rim (also acts as a beadlock that way), trim the fender wells a little bigger front and rear and you shouldnt have any problems. I forgot yours is a flareside so I'm not 100% sure on the rear. Should be fine with trimming.
Dith the bench seat as soon as you can. I remember goofing off in my truck when it still had the stock bench and it wasn't too fun
Pulled the bench out, fab'd up bucket seat mounting, got a hold of some nice racing seats and 5 point harnesses and it is 100x better than bouncing in a bench seat. don't run harnesses without a cage though.

Re: 1969 f-100 prerunner/race truck
yeah the bench seat makes thing interesting for sure! makes it kinda hard to stay in the drivers seat in the rough stuff. The front suspension is all autofab, radius arms and beams with limit staps, i havent cycled the suspension to see how much travel it has though. I will have to measure the eye to eye length on the rear springs too. front and rear has nice poly bump stops and rancho shocks (most likely pretty tired). I have heard that 64's are the way to go too like you were saying. oh and it is a glass hood. I definitely want to swap in coilovers for the front eventually. sounds like your gonna have a pretty bitchin' truck when your done. I just want to get a running motor in mine righ now!...have any laying around? my 360 needs a rebuild. Dixon bros racing is about 15 minutes from me and he is building a similar truck to ours, im pretty sure its a bump side. 20-something inches of travel all around 37in MTRs, caged front bumper to back, 302. he makes glass our trucks too. I will have to see if he will let me take some pics of his truck next time i am out there.

Re: 1969 f-100 prerunner/race truck
Good to hear it has an autofab front end. Big plus. Autofab makes badass stuff.
Score on the fiberglass hood too. I've been looking for one (used) for years. came across one for $200 about a year ago but it was 9 hours away. If i came across the same deal i would jump on it though.
For now i am just skinning my hood.
If you can get a picture of the rear springs (so i can see how many leaves and how thick, and the arch, and hanger position/length) and the shock mounting I can critique that a little
I know of the dixon bump you're talking about. Yellow, right? I have many pictures of that truck as well. I think i have pictures of 99% of prerunner bumps
Tonight I'll create another photobucket account and I'll upload almost all the pics I have so other people can browse through them.
No spare FE's laying around at the moment. I'll let you know if i run across one.

Re: 1969 f-100 prerunner/race truck
i hope to see some progress soon! I have been tearing down the motor slowly. Now i have to decide to rebuild or find another engine to put in it. The 360 i took out of it is beat to hell
