New pics and other stuff

Post by 1968flareside »

I went on a business trip to Washington D.C. a couple weeks ago. While I was gone, my son left his bicycle helmet in the way of our 18 year old garage door. When he closed it, (elect. garage door opener), the down pressure regulator was bad. The top two panels crushed and came off the track. So, today I had to empty out the garage to have the new door and opener installed. I pushed the 68 out of the garage and got the best "before" pics I've had. Did I mention I got a new digi camera for my D.C. trip? Anyway, I updated my gallery. Here's a taste.

I forgot to mention...

Once we have the yard sale next week, and have room in the garage, my 11 year-old son and I will begin removing the body from the frame. Can't wait!!!! :woohoo:

Take plenty of pics with that camera, and print them off!
They will be invaluable when it comes time to put the truck back together, and if your hard drives dies on you, you have no pics!

Will do. I also spent a few bucks and got the body assembly manual from www.blueovaltruckparts.com . Between my pics and the manual, I'm sure I'll still be pulling my hair out!!!

That looks sweet already. Those wheels look like they came on that truck. Kool

Are those graphics on the side painted on or a decal? Those look very retro. I'd be interested in seeing a closer view of those.

Keith, they appear to be decals. I know it has been re-painted at least once. The original color is the "skyview blue" I think. Basically a baby blue. I can take some better closeups and post them up. If you don't see them by next weekend, remind me. I'm knee deep in a lot of stuff.

EDIT

Here's the paintchip color I was talking about. It's the bottom, left color. I want to do that as the base color for sure.

SEE LINK TO ALBUM IN MY SIGNATURE FOR THE PAINTCHIP TO THE 68 MODEL YEAR.

I believe the wheels are from a late 80's to early 90's 150. They are 15's btw.

GT, check out this link. http://blueovaltruckparts.com/catalog/d ... th=234_239

They are around $20-$25 depending on year. Not all years are covered. But, if you give Larry a call over there, he may be able to special order one for you. He has great customer service, which keeps me coming back and referring him to everyone. Just look under the "text" link on the left, bottom once you go to the "store" link if the link above doesn't work right. I did test it, and it worked fine for me. I also bought my wiring diagram from him for under $10, I think.

Keith, I have uploaded the pics of the decals into the cpu, but I have some "honey do's" to get done. I'll post up the pictures tonight sometime.

Ok, got a break. So here are the pictures of the decals...

USE THE LINK IN MY SIGNATURE TO SEE RELEVANT PICTURES IN MY FORDIFICATION ALBUMS.

So, do these decals mean anything to any of you? I have always wondered if they could have been an original set of decals that were re-installed after the last paint job, many years ago. Since I don't plan on a full original restore, I wasn't sure how to incorporate these if they do belong to a special model of the F100. The guy I got it from said someone had told him once that the "ST" meant Sport Truck. I wasn't even a twinkle in mom and dad's eyes when this truck was in production, so I don't know. :? :? :?
