anyone have any info on the factory PTO units?
My truck came stock with a transfer case mounted PTO unit driving a Keonig winch on the front bumper. What I need to know is this- can I remove the PTO unit (output facing the front bumper) and reverse it so the output faces the rear of the truck?
is there a gearing issue here, or can it just be removed, flipped, and re-installed? would this make it drive in reverse or something?
I understand there may be a control cable problem, but that is secondary to the mounting issue.
what I am trying to do is mount it so I can drive a Hydraulic pump to power various winches and cylinders as I dream up new uses for the boom on the truck.
right now there is a clearance problem with the exhaust, tranny, driveshaft, ect.
I also have the option of putting it onto the tranny. what extra gears, ect. would that take?
sorry for the long post,guys!

Oh brother . I think some of them you can pull the guts out and turn them around. There are several different kinds of them. Best bet would be to get the serial number and go to there website and cross it ther for some info.

Hell, Mike, this is getting scary. Lord knows what you might dream up! I can't help you much on the PTO info. I yanked one off a F350 that was mounted to the tranny, not the t-case.

Ya, I have seen more of them on trannies the T-cases. That one just digs the ditch a little deeper.

So Heep, we hear you're working at the same company as Comet. Does this have anything to do with the "Poodle Bar"?

Well right now I am looking at a twin hydraulic winch setup. one in the front, and one running the boom line.
I might set up a dumping flatbed with the boom attached so I can use it as a flatbed, dump truck, and a wrecker truck all in one.
Then add the push bumper on the front, along with the dozer blade, and I'm all set!
I need to find a good cab for this thing so I can start driving it!
the goal is to make an extraction truck for Liz's toyota mud truck (if I can ever get it finished), and an all around work truck combined.
