side marker lights in hood emblems

mine is the 72 Ranger XLT From all the chrome and the side marker lamps in the rear. Just wished they hadthe ones up front on the side instead of the cornerish ones they have
Just a thought. Has anyone thought to or actually tried to convert a set of 68-72 hood emblems into side marker lights? That would be a different feature as well as added safety. Maybe cornering lamps like the LTDs used lower on the front fenders, too. Make it look like it was done at the factory. Could add an entire light group including the lights in the doors when they are opened.

I've thought about adding that "ding, ding, ding" sound that cars used to have when the door was open with the keys in the ingition.

I don't know why I would want that irritating feature though.... :dk:

Cool idea on the blinkers!

I have done it and it look cool! I took the rear side markers off of an 1986 crown vic , took the foil off the back of the hood reflector, then cut a hole in the hood for the marker to fit into! I wired it into the parking lights!
Thats a quick overveiw, if you have any questions just ask!!!!!!e

I did it to both my back reflectors and my front ones. I used camper shell lights with 1895 bulbs. The same ones in the dash. I wired my front ones into my dash lights so they come on with the parking lights and the headlights. just don't dim your dash lights and your side light will stay bright. The first time I wired them up I wired them to my headlights, but I hooked them to the wrong wire cause they only came on when the lights were dim. I got them looking good now though. Well they would if they could see, but they don't have no eyes.

Crazy_B: Can you post a pic of the backside of the hood emblems so we can see how you hooked the lights up?

A quick tech article on this would be great. Some photos at dusk of the lights on would let us see how they work. I figured someone had done this already :D . It is unfortunate that 67s don't have this opportunity with the side reflectors.

Well, the '68-'72 hood emblems ARE a direct swap....the mounting pins for both styles are in the same place. ;)
