Disassembling a bed?
Bumpside-smitty wants to buy my box, but we're not sure how to disconnect the passenger side of the bed. Can you just grind all the factory welds you see connecting the side? Is there a procedure for this?

I think it's all spotwelded at the factory, so in that case, youshould be able to just cut the spotwelds and free it up.... but I haven't done it, so let us know how it goes

These boxes are built different than the newer ones. There is a seam above the side molding or spear where the lower box side is welded to the upper. The spot welds can be reached by flipping the box upside down.
Seems like a lot of work....

I think even mine could be saved except i can get one that has been built into a trialer for 50.00 as opposed to the price for new metal.
Good luck with your project.

re: Disassembling a bed?
I looked at trying to take off the one side. First of all his is a 67 and mine is a 72 so the rear pillar also needs to be replaced. It really looks like a lot of work so after looking it over I decided that I could probably repair the dents and a little rust rather than replacing the bedside. Thanks for the input.
