Bedsides Seams
I have a 1969 F250 Camper Special that has pieces of the filler in the seams on the bedsides coming out. What should I use to fill the seams?

Surprisingly, it's called "seam sealer" and you can get it an an automotive paint supply store. There are several varieties. I used a name brand that came in a tube. You squeeze the tube as you lay it into the groove, then run your finger along the surface to get a nice, even seam. You have to work quickly as once it begins setting up, that finger becomes the enemy.
I think the most important part is preparation. I guess sand blasting would be best and that's what I would do if I had it to do over again. However, I sanded, wire brushed, sanded, wire brushed and so on until I was pretty sure I got all the rust out of there. Good luck.

I had a rust spot in an old Volvo that a body guy fixed with this seam stuff. His was in a caulking gun. After he filled the hold he had an aerosol can of something he sprayed on there to soften the goo so he could shape it with his finger. He would keep spraying it until he had it just like he wanted.

If you keep your finger wet with water you can smooth it out pretty darn good!

Thank you to everyone who replied! This a very good forum and as I continue to work on my '69 Camper Special, I am sure I will have many more questions.

Is that seam spotwelded together? The sealer on my truck bed is in the same shape, falling out, and there's rust behind it. Would be nice to be able to pull it together and fix it right.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~
