I am just about to finish my grille. and my cab sheet metal is close. The last couple of weeks have been spent polishing my grille and making a set of inserts to replace the stock 71 inserts. Just thought I would post a quick picture to show everyone were I am trying to go sense it is not a stock look.

So what did you do to the bumper? It almost looks like a bumper cover. I like it. Kinda the same theme I'm going with.

Thanks guys, the bumper is gone, what you are seeing is the lower stock valance with a piece cut off the upper bed rail turned upside down and welded to it. The fog lights are frenched in to the bed rail. I made the grille inserts from 1/2" OD stainless steel tubing. I am thing about adding Euro Headlights and clear parking lights. On a side note the other upper bed side is now on the back of the truck as a roll pan.

I have not done anything to the bed yet. But for anyone wanting a way to make a low cost rollpan here is one I made from the upper bed rail of a spare bed, it's not welded in to the bed now but that will come with time. You can also see in this picture I have welded and smothed the seam above the back window, and shaved the vertical part of the gutters.

What did you use to polish the grill? I've got a 68 with a perfect grill but badly weathered.

I started out by using a Scotch Brite Deburriing disc on a end grinder to remove the anodized coating. Then I sanded with several different grits of paper starting at 220 and finishing up with 1000 grit. Then finished polishing the aluminum with a 8" loose section buff mounted on a 1/2" drill, and Autosol (a polish I got from Eastwood). I started trying to use White rouge and Jewelers rouge but found out that Autosol will polish it a lot quicker. But the main thing is alot of time and elbow grease.
