Opinion on bumper guars

Yae or nay on the bumper guards. I'm not really sure either way. I like having them but on a plain old truck they kind of look like putting lipstick on a pig.

If you're looking fo a cool add-on for your front bumper look up a Ford econoline bumper. They are the same shape as ours but have a cool little black spoiler on the bottom.

That's cool Nick. What year was it? Early 80s I'm guessing. I found a really nice bumper on a 70ish Econoline but it was way wide.

The only problem is that was the bumper those things were on and you can really see where they were with out them. I had to agree with the general opinion, without.

Eh Willowbilly. That bumper came off a 80's econoline. Trying to find a good truck bumper in the down-town yards is rare. I asked how much for a van bumper, he laughed and said 20 buck. Score!

I'll have to start watching for those. I think those Econolines use the same armrests as our trucks too.

Did you use the van mounts?

Bolts are no where close?

The two inner bolts are close to ours. If you use a washer and nut on the back-side of the bumper it will grab the inside edge of the chassis. To help visualize, if the holes were 1.5 closer to the end of the bumper it would be a direct bolt on. I then welded 1/4 inch angle iron, verticly, on the back side. So the washer catches the chassis and the angle iron.

I like with. But if you decide you don't want them and I have some money (hardly ever) lets talk because mine aren't in that good of shape.

I have another set, but I'm not sure if they fit the bumper profile. I'll dig them out and see. I think I am going to leave these on for now to cover up the place where they uglied up the bumper. I am thinking of getting my painted bumper powdercoated and put it back on. Then if I get real ambitious I migh build a cool push bar for it.
