Inner fender ... repair with '73-79 sheetmetal ?

Is the portion of the inner fender that the hood hinges bolt to dimensionally the same (width, bolt patterns etc.) on the '73-79 parts as on the '67-72 inner fenders.?There are quite a few later trucks in the junk yard here, all the '67-72s around here have worse inner fenders than mine. If the dimensions are the same I think I could repair mine with later portions of inner fender.

No....the raised portion of the inner fender that the hinges bolt to is 1/4" narrower on the '73-up trucks. I measured the firewall brackets that the inner fender bolts to:

67-'72 brackets - 2-1/4"
73-'79 brackets - 2"

Second what Keith said. Where the infender bolts to the firewall adapter is narrower on the new trucks. I also beleive the 73 and up hood hinge is bolted on the outer part(fender side), were 67-72's bolt to the inside(engine side). This is the case on my cousin's 1979.

National Parts Depot lists the right side in their catalog, but Carpenter is their supplier so the may be able to get you both.

Since this is one of the most-commonly-rusted areas of this generation of Ford truck, you can buy prebent patch panels for this area. LMC has them for $40/ea. Might save you a lot of time and trouble.

....or you could just bend a couple chunks of steel like this to create your own patch panels.
