71 F100 Ranger XLT

Post by Blue Cloud »

I thought I had better start a new title sense the pickup es a 71 instead of a 72 as I was told, which is real cool because my 3/4 ton 4x4 is a 71 too! Anyway here's the pics I took yesterday at the PO's house.

Better, but still not very good. The pics above were of the factory 390, and of the pickup before we loaded it up on the trailer. I'll try some more...

There's more pics in the photo gallery, Better wait to post more until I learn to do this alittle better. I'll probably not start too many repairs real soon, I don't want to work in the driveway in Wyoming in the middle of January. It had the worlds ugliest topper on when I bought it, got that off today. The first thing is to get the timing chain repaired, I'd like to do it myself but it might call a few mechanic shops to see what they would charge me. The drivers side window is broken, but I'll wait to do that until I paint the pickup and get new window felt and anti-rattle kit etc.

Not too bad...looks good. Good choice on getting that topper off there. Is that your red bump in the background?

Yes, thats my 71 3/4 ton 4x4. :D It's my daily driver, back and forth to work and anything else. I'm still going to finish the paint on it this spring when the weather is nicer. I'll still use the Rustoleum-foam roller method on the 3/4 ton, though now I'm leaning more to a red color if I can find a close match to the original Candy Apple red. Might try a custom mix for that. The F100's factory colors are Wimbleton white and Bahama blue which I like that color combo the more I think on it. Probably will have it sprayed, but thats a long way off. I'm more worried about getting it up and running first. It would be smarter to wait for warmer weather to start working, but I know it will bug me until I'm out there in coveralls and felt pacs turning wrenches. I'm telling the wife we are needing a shop really, really bad, almost got her convinced too. :D
