upgrade:
6 volt to 12 volt
front disk brakes
change the rear end from the stock rear end to a mustang rear end (direct bolt on)
painting the truck two toned (Terquiso and black.....more to come on htat soon)
Front chrome brakets and chome bumper
raer chrome brakets and chrome bumper
new tail lights
Dakota Digitel Dash Panel
thats just a part of what i want to do.
I've started to sand the truck down and i've begun to prime the body

Question:
Do you know where they mount the master cylinder for these older trucks?
Answer:
Down by the manuel transmission under the drivers side floor panel on the frame

That's why the brake pedale goes throught the floor and not through the firewall.Nickabocker wrote:Question:

What kit are you using for the front brakes?
BTW, gotta love the "benches" the front fenders make
It is eerie how similar yours and mine are right down to the color. I will have to get my pics up this evening.

re: my 48 project
THat's a cool old truck. Check out this link, http://www.fatfenderedtrucks.com/ . Those were always my favorite vintage of Ford truck. I've recently developed an appreciation of the bumpside. If I could ever afford it, I'd like a '48 or '49 F3 or F4.

re: my 48 project
I have been idle for awhile. Just came back on and noticeed your truck that you working on . When I lived in Texas I had 26 trucks. Mostly 48 thru 52 there is a lot of interchangeable parts . You probaly already know but your truck has a 53 and up bed . Also the 48s had a stainless steel grille cover over the grille bars. The 49/50 had a painted grill I have decided to get my self another '48..... Sacramento Vintage Ford has the correct grille bars at a reasonable price. I have parts books and repair manuals for your truck and will lend a hand for reference if needed. I also have some handles and a few trim parts if you need them. Dude!!

Kanter has rebuild kits for them but I know some things like thermostat housings are hard to find, looks like no one makes them.
