Re: 1972 F-250 Highboy Restoration
Hooooly cow. That is pretty. Top notch work and amazing attention to detail. it must be a labor of love because I think I would be afraid to drive it after all of the work. The rear u-bolts for the axle. were you able to find those new? or where those old ones in good shape cleaned up? Keep the pictures coming.

Re: 1972 F-250 Highboy Restoration
Thanks Rich. I had all my hardware re-plated, mostly in zinc yellow. Those very u-bolts were a mess when I tore this truck down, but they weren't rusted so we re-used them. I'll keep sending pics, thanks!

Okay i speak i think for several of these guys here (maybe maybe not). You have proven your point that you are building one of the nicest highboys ever seen and you can now stop making us feel bad.............
Awesome attention to detail Kevyn. This truck should be a show stopper.

Re: 1972 F-250 Highboy Restoration
If it makes you feel any better about your decision to run Warn hubs, they were optional back then from Ford. My truck had a set on it from back in the day. This is from the 1972 Ford literature library here on Fordification. I really got to hand it to ya on your handy work, that is one fine job you're doing there.sopikp1 wrote:Some progress today, got the Warn hubs on and the driveshafts. Started the brakelines, and promptly screwed up 3!
Hope to get the lines done, the fuel tank mounted, and then this chassis is off to the body shop for sheet metal.

The Warn products that were made in the 70's are far from the Warn stuff of today.

Re: 1972 F-250 Highboy Restoration
Been a while...still at it though. As you can see, I got the Rancho 9000's mounted. They are as big as they look! Huge shocks, pretty tight to the axle in back, but I think the weight of the body, tank, etc. should even things out.
Thanks again for all the awesome posts!

Re: 1972 F-250 Highboy Restoration
We also finished up the front of the engine and carb. With any luck we'll get the radiator support and radiator installed tomorrow. Power steering assembly is complete.
We'll be taking this to West Point, NE to get the body in 2-3 weeks.
Take care
