bobaloo, my experience is the car show guys like to see older vehicles no matter what. They call them survivors. Even if they have to be pulled in.

Plus you run in to people at the show who know where to get hard to find parts.

And now to answere the post. Yes mine is daily 10 mpg is what i qoute here intown but it seems like i'm getting better than that. And i say 15 on the highway. But i have never ran the numbers.

And as it starts consistantly and roadside repairs will get me on in to work and back home again, and sometimes up to the Parts store.
Gas prices be darned tootin'!

Seems to me those who have the 32 mpg vehicles just fill it and travel twice as far not giving a hoot.
Cuasing more demand.

I will be driving the old crewcab back to Mississippi in a few days. It is about 500 miles I guess. I am going to try and find a new carb before I leave, probably a 2bbl. Holley. I need to get rid of that hard hot starting problem. It seems all the fuel percs out and floods it.

Nah, well maybe sorta I guess since I am now basically homeless. I will just ride this deal out for as long as I can. I like the adventure and the people but the hunidity is even worse than East Texas which I already dislike. I really miss my daughter the most and my values may change when I get cashed up.

I drive my 72 F-100 Explorer quite a bit. In fact I am just back from a hunting weekend in the Ozarks that tallied up 400 miles on the truck. Like to guess what the total bill for fuel was???? I didnt think so. I willtell you that I bought regular in Houston, MO yesterday for $2.53 per gallon which beats the $2.89 or higher prices near St. Louis.
I have 5 old restored trucks and a new 2005 which I use for sales calls. The 72 Explorer is my have fun truck. It is not perfect and due to my particular nature I can enjoy myself on trips to the farm etc. without worrying about getting it dirty or scratched.
My only complaint would be the horrendous fuel mileage, and the twin I beam road wanders. Other than that it is a nice looking and enjoyable old truck. It is the Durango tan with ginger interior, and has the simulated mag hub caps, very little rust, a 360 w/3:00 gearing, a/c, auto, ps, pb. All are functional and the options help make it enjoyable to operate.

I for one drive the XLT everyday unless it's broke. I love that truck and still get waves & nods around town.

Wouldn't have it any other way.
