I used up my stripping pad a while ago so I used what I have left.dcbullet wrote:Holy smokes that must have gotten tireing stripping that with a wire brush.
I hate to be the one to tell you, I think you painted your driveway black.
My arms feel like thier gonna fall off and my hands feel like hamburger but Im happy to have done it.
As far as the driveway, its just overspray. Comes off easy with the pressure washer. A small price to pay for what Ive accomplished me thinks.

I know it all too well. Thats how I ended up with a bare frame when all I was gonna do was a simple "quick cab swap".I was joking , it is a sickness I have.

Well, with air steering and air shift, I think he was safe from crashing.heep70 wrote:He also forgot the tell the driver to put on his seatbelt.

Very nice!! And very ingenious use of that hoist!
Does anyone have the weight of a stripped down cab?

The 4 point chain rig worked well. Still kinda tippy, but it worked.Chasbod wrote:Very nice!! And very ingenious use of that hoist!

The oly problem I had was having to lift the front odd the cab mounts to pull the chain out after it was set.
I dont know how much a stripped cab weighs, but Im guessing the better side of 300 Lbs

re: Driveway cab swap gone wild
Spent the entire weekend sanding the entire cab. I have gone over it with a DA sander several times while getting it ready to put on the frame but a DA dont get all of the corners and creases so the rest of it has to be sanded by hand. The final product reflects the prep and the difference between a good job and a crappy job is in the details.
Ive used up 150 sheets of sandpaper and I can assure you that almost every inch of that cab has been sanded by my own two hands.
I have no fingerprints any more and my arms feel like their gonna fall off but after two days of sanding I was finally able to shoot a couple quarts of primer before it got too dark to see.
Now I will wait till next weekend and sand that smooth and see if there is anywhere I missed.
No pix yet for this post though, was too dirty to handle a camera and it got dark fast.
Will update one day this week with pix.

Thanks, I could use the help. But I have to admit. There is a real sense of satisfaction in having done it myself.
Anyway, all of you have helped me more than you could know. The support and knowledge gained from this website/forums and people here have really helped fuel this project. Without all of you, I probably wouldn't have gotten started and definitely wouldn't be this far in such a short amount of time.
I AM hurrying!Believe me. My wife wants to see me get this done almost as much as I do.
