It has been way too long since an update and today wasn't anything too special. The body/paint shop came and picked up my cab today. They are going to strip it down, do the body work and primer it.

I have one cab mount that needs replaced, and a couple bullet holes filled, and one dent where the camper had bounced and dented the top a bit. They said it would be a month before they got it finished, which was alreaght with me. They worked me in and cut me a heck of a deal.

Now I gotta find some rear leaf and shackle bushings. Also gotta get a set of U-bolts as well. Slow progress! I have been gathering parts all along. Have a grille coming, a couple inner fenders, an F-600 guage bezel (no guages) hoping I can get some nice looking ones that will fit in there.

Fordfool, did you take the cab off the frame and send it to the shop? If you don't mind giving an idea, what kind of price did you get for the paint and body work with you dismantling the cab yourself? That is how I intend to do mine when the time comes. Good job and good luck.

I had the guy come by and look at it. Like I say, he cut me a heck of a deal. These guys do solid work, but I told then that I would be dropping in ever so often to see the progress and take pics. They are trying to get established business wise. The main guy worked a town over for quite a while, but thought that he would try to make a go on his own in town here wchich works out great all around for me.

$240 is what he is chargine me to weld in some bullet holes, work out osme dents, sand it ALL down, and primer it. He is even going to as far as to let me come in and por-15 the bottom side and floor and then primer over that while still tacky. I sure cannot complain. I told him that if I was happy with the final job that I would be trickling in doors, hood, fenders...

Thats a heck of a deal

Shop here in town wants 1200 to meadia blast my whole truck and primer it + body repairs. I'll freight my cab to you and maybe get a double deal

A little progress. I made a cradle for my frame out of 2x6s, sounds hokie, but turned out pretty good. Got it up off the ground about 2'. I put the 2x6s in far enough so I can start hanging the suspension springs and axles and should still be able to put the tires on and be a few inches off the ground.

Washed up the front leaf springs a bit ago and am gonna wire brush them and do some POR15ing and painting on the springs a bit later today or tomorrow evening.

I owe a big thank you go Patrick (460Crew) for a bunch of pristine parts! Thank you thank you!

I have located a short shaft and housing for my C6 tranny fairly inexpensively. Talk about something hard to find!

A few things I am going to be on the hunt for probably this fall are:

Upper valance for a '68 grille
lower valance and side "cups" or whatever they are called for a '68 grille
Headlight covers for a '68 steel grille

I am going to try to set the resolution way down on our camera so I can take some pictures and post them.

Does anyone know where "soda wash" can be found? I need to do some rust removing, but cannot find it. Thanks!

Nuttin spectacular, just made a small bit of progress. A few more pics. IS there a better brand of 4" buffer wheel? I asked around and they said this one should be good, but it is all but gone.

As far as the buffer are you asking about the wheel or the actuall grinder?

Well, I got the metal sleeves out tonight and got the new poly bushings in and the newly painted up leaf springs installed...the wrong way

But they sure do look pretty! I will swap them next week. I just got them backwards. I looked at my picture wrong I guess, no biggie.

I have to start hunting for my rear leaf and shackle bushings now...

I have my brake hose brackets, my shock mounts and engine perches ready to bolt up as soon as I get some good bolts.

I am glad to be going back the other way finally. I need to drag my wiring harness out now and clean it all up and rewrap it with new tape.
