hooking up an original AC unit in a non AC truck????
Ok guys, I'm looking at some original AC units to put in my 71 short bed. Has this been done before? I'm sure I can figure out the AC lines, but what about the electrical? Any advice?

mine was a dealer add on orginal. they had to drill two holes in the fire wall and the hoses come very close to the exhaust manifold. i'll try to get a picture up tonight

Big Red,
That would be great. There are some pictures on this site of the units and where the holes are but some pics of it installed would help too. What will really need help with is the wiring. Maybe when I get it, you can help me run down the wires.
thanks

Actual "FACTORY" A/C has the compressor standing up, and the hoses enter the fire wall through a large oval bushing about the center of the firewall.
Most of the period add on units have two holes drilled just right of the brake booster.
Can't help with the wiring, but It will be pretty simple I bet.

I have a 1969 truck shop manual at home (at school right now) when I go home tommorow I will see if it has a wiring diagram for a 69 A/C (i dont imagine they changed too much) If it does I'll bring it back to school with me on monday and try to post it then.

Here's the wiring diagram for the ’70 - ’71 factory air conditioning, below are the wire numbers and colors for a ’72 (can’t find them for this diagram), I think they’re the same, Ford’s usually pretty good about keeping the same numbers and colors.
