Coolant (?) leak inside cab

Post by bph »

Hi all. 1970 Ford F250 camper special here.

A couple weeks ago I noticed some liquid streaming down on the interior, passenger side from right under the dash below the glove box where air duct runs for the ventilation system. I figure that there were some gaps around cables passing through the engine/firewall so I sealed up any opening that I could find in the engine bay.

Today much more fluid leaked out while driving and I noticed that it is viscous, sticky and kind of green in color....radiator fluid?? I do see what looks like a hose running from the rear of the radiator through the firewall. Any idea what would be leaking right behind/below the dashboard glove box?

Chances are that is a failing heater core. It could still be a hose leaking into the interior. But really its going to be a failing heater core. You will need to remove the heater system from under the dash and put in a new heater core.

Here are a few threads that have good information in them about the heaters, there are also some Youtube videos that show people replacing their heater cores on these trucks. Hope this helps :D
