Gents,
After getting tired of oil sitting on top of the timing chain cover I pulled off the front end of the engine and put in fresh gaskets for the first time in 15 years. Two weeks later, the leak is back. Assuming the gaskets are properly installed and sealed, any thoughts on where to look next?
I'm pretty sure it's not the valve cover.

if its the valve cover you could see oil running down the side of the block somewhere. did you look?

if the leak was coming from the valve cover, you would see oil running down the side of the block somewhere. besides that puddle the block looks pretty clean so probably not that

Agree. Distributor or maybe the front intake/china wall.two-bit wrote:Where the dizzy shaft/housing goes into the block ? Intake maybe ? Just a guess.

Re: Where is this leak coming from?
I pulled the distributor and no sign of a gasket so I'm assuming the last 51 years were unkind to the original one and it finally disintegrated. A new gasket is in order so hopefully that will help or eliminate the leaking. Thanks for the tips.

To be sure you could clean it all up well then spray it with foot powder. It seems silly but you will be able to see an oil leak right away when it shows up on the white powder. That is what I do.

Pretty sure it’s coming from the dizzy. Put a new o ring on it. So far so goof.
P.s. great suggestion on the foot powder.
