Hi,
I was involved in an accident where I rearended another vehicle. Long story short, hood was damaged and I've not been able to locate a replacement. Auto body shop told me hood was unrepairable. The online replacement I could find online was a fiberglass hood from AutoFab. Has anyone heard of this company or of the fiberglass hood.

Thanks.

Re: F-100 Fiberglass Hood
I would think you could find a oem one a lot cheaper than that

If it's like a lot of fiberglass parts , there is a lot of labor making them fit and look good.
If they ever do.

Re: F-100 Fiberglass Hood
Jgf100, the transmission and motor mounts in my truck are from AutoFab, and are excellent. I also swapped letters long ago with John E., the company's owner, and he seemed like a great fellow.
My mounts are shown in: FE and T18/C6 mounts from Autofab, plus frame alignment.
I have no experience with the fiberglass hood though.
Did you notice that it has no provision for a front hood latch? I'd personally seek out an OEM hood, as others have mentioned.

Re: F-100 Fiberglass Hood
I'd definitely would prefer an oem hood, problem is I have not been able to locate one. I live in upstate South Carolina and cant find one nearby. I've searched online anywhere and still no luck. Hoods for 67-72 f100 seem to be very rare. I figured a fiberglass hood would be too much trouble getting to fit right. I guess I'll have to keep looking.
Thanks everyone.

Get in touch with Flashback F100s over at http://www.flashbackf100s.com/. They are in NC and have quite a lot of bumpside parts. I would be surprised if they didn't have a 67-72 hood in that big yard of trucks and parts they have.
Autofab is great too, but their body panels are more geared towards making prerunners and suchlike things.

Re: F-100 Fiberglass Hood
The listing indicates it does not come with a latch provision and you must request additional support be added for the stock type hinges. It seems expensive. I don't recall how heavy the hood is but I would keep looking for a used metal one. The end result may cost close to $1,000.00, delivered. Hopefully insurance is paying for the damage. I believe it would fit alright and probably look fine, however the only fiberglass ones I have seen were tilt front ends with fiberglass fenders also.

Re: F-100 Fiberglass Hood
You've probably figured out something by now, but...
I'd trust AutoFab, but as mentioned an aftermarket fiberglass hood is probably going to take a lot of work to get right regardless of who its from. AutoFab's stuff is meant for desert prerunner type builds where it's going to take a beating anyway so fit and finish probably isn't their top priority. Also as stated you'll have to add more to the price for a bolt on option that works with stock hood hinges and I don't think I'd run hood springs even with that option, too much stress on the hinge mounting points on the fiberglass hood.
I've had the thought a few times about lowering by 4x4 back to stock and running AutoFab's raised fenders for clearance. Doubt I'll do it, but have wandered how it would look.
There's also U.S. Body Source. Their stuff would be pretty similar to what AutoFab has.
I'm with these guys get a stock hood if you can. Check with FlashbackF100s, they are always bring in fresh loads of parts from out west, they've probably got or can get you one pretty quickly. Also check out the F-100 Facebook groups, there are a few members like Tommy Whaley in Alabama that part and sell these trucks. I'm all the time seeing members of the groups from the South East U.S. making parts runs out west and offering to get things for people. One of the common items they bring back is hoods.

Re: F-100 Fiberglass Hood
https://www.car-part.com/mobile/index.htm is my go to search engine for junk yard parts. Shipping is a consideration but would still be far less than $1000. Here's a snapshot of a search I did based on a Charlotte zip code I happen to be familiar with. Looks like there's several in TN.
