I just started working on a 1968 F-250 camper special. The bed is ready to come off. The grill, radiator mount support, and everything else between the front fenders are off the truck. All the fasteners, bolts, nuts, and misc. hardware are rusty and don't deserve to go back on in their present state. I'm looking at a fastener kit from www.bodyboltkit.com but I'm also interested in what anyone else has done to solve the fastener problem as you have worked through the restoration of your classic/vintage F-series truck.
Thanks,
Tony

Re: 1968 F-250 bolts, nuts, fasteners......
Congrats on the resto!! Big project.
I bought the stainless Ford logo body bolts from Summit "Scott Drake Body Fasteners 378178-SF" because they look really cool and not holding a ton of weight or pressure.
However, for the cab mounts and other heavy duty areas, I used Grade 8 bolts because I was told Stainless is only Grade 5 and may fail under crazy conditions. Granted they rust, but not all that quickly. I coated many of them underbody/paint so they can hold off rust.
Any hardware that needs to be restored, I used EvapoRust because it works quick and easier to repaint afterwards. Then POR15 paint over rust formula.
Good luck!

Great information. Aside from getting OE nuts/bolts/washers from a junkyard or parts vehicle it's good to know where to get replacements.

Let us know if they are exactly like OE nuts and bolts, would be good to know. I usually try to find replacements in the junk yard to replace any of my bad nuts and bolts. If I can find exact OE style stainless as ACE hardware, I buy them.

I have also been looking since I first posted my question. Here's what I have come up with:
https://www.cjponyparts.com/scott-drake ... /p/HW4186/
https://www.summitracing.com/search?Sor ... 0378178-SF
https://www.clipsandfasteners.com/14-X- ... a13021.htm
https://www.bodyboltkit.com/1967-1968-1 ... -bolt-kit/
Just for grins, I soaked a bunch of bolts, fasteners, and nuts in degreaser for a couple of days and then soaked them in Evapo Rust. I wasn't happy.
Thanks,
Tony
