How to tell oem from aftermarket tail gates?
I have a old 73/9 tail gate but with all the aftermarket repop’s out there how do you will the clean oem ones from the repop’s ? The one I have don’t have any lettering on it but has the tabs for the trim that went across the gate

Dennis Carpenter offers both the OEM style and a re-pop import. The OEM style is made with the original tooling, and is made of galvanized steel, so it won't rust like the original tailgates.

Re: How to tell oem from aftermarket tail gates?
We got an incoming '79 truck project after we finished installing the suspension and ridge grappler tires on the current Wrangler project. We're going to need a tailgate with Ford lettering. You can't hardly carry an original by yourself compared to a re-pop. (At least for an old guy like me).

The originals are way heavier than the repops. Not sure what the weight difference is, but it is very noticeable.
