How do I fold my bench seat down??
I swear I'm not an idiot, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to fold my bench seat down to access the area behind it (not much room with the gas tank back there). There's one lever on the driver's side under the seat, and I use that to slide the bench forward and back, but I need the top part to fold down, and I've tried looking all over, but can't figure it out. HELP!

I have a 72 with the original bench seat. It does not fold down although I wish it did. I guess it was another way to save a few dollars.

Thanks Mak, I was hoping that was not the case. But on the positive side, I'm not an idiot!

Re: How do I fold my bench seat down??
yours probably has the fuel tank in cab so most of our seats didnt fold down because of that. Now to fix it there is two brackets on the bottom of the seat back one on each side that has a bolt through it to stop it from folding down. Remove those bolts and you should be good to go.

I believe it's for safety , less force pushing you forward in a accident .
Every truck I had ,the seat tipped forward except a '72.
Later on in the decade they put in a release lever so you can tip it up.
As mentioned before , it's easy to remedy .

Wow, I never noticed any bolts that could be removed to allow it to fold down. Even while replacing the seat upholstery years ago. Wasn’t looking for them though so I guess it just never registered... Will have to look when I get back to our place in a month. Thanks.
