72 Automatic Back Up Light Problem

Post by rodneyc »

Sorry if this has been beat to death but I searched and can't find answer. My 72 automatic back up lights don't work. Truck will start in park, not in neutral or any other gear. Back up lights never come on unless I reach in and pull lever all the way to the left of switch, then they will come on. This looks to me like that should be in park. Could my NSS be wired backwards or is there some way to adjust the switch. Why do they come on with switch pushed all the way to the left? Again sorry if this is a simple fix, I am simple minded :)

Remove the column switch and make sure it's riding over the shifter pawl correctly. Red / blue wires for start, black / blue for reverse if memory serves.
