Zero Power

Hello all,

I've searched the past posts but don't see anything about no power. My '67 f100's been sitting for a few years and yesterday I went to bump the motor and nothing! No bing, no instruments, no lights, no nuttin!! Could this be the solenoid? Battery is fully charged btw.

Make sure the battery cable connections are clean and tight. try it then. if nothing after that take your test light and make sure power is at the post on the solenoid, have somebody try the key and use your test light on the work side of the solenoid to see if power is making it through. if not it may be stuck, you can try tapping on it to jar it loose or you can replace and re-test.

A bad solenoid shouldn't affect the lights. If the battery is good, absence of lights usually means a bad connection. Clean off the battery terminals, make sure the clamps are on tight, check the main ground where it bolts to the engine block, and check the main hot wire from the battery where it bolts onto the large lug on the battery side of the solenoid. The wires that lead to the horn relay and light circuits should be bolted on to that lug next to the battery hot wire-check to make sure that these connections are clean.
