Vin tag questions

Post by Charliedale »

I'm trying to decode my Vin tag and I can't find a j paint code for my 69, also I can't seem to find the district code for mine listed either...mines 56. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

"J" is Rangoon Red, but it doesn't list it for a '69. Maybe the door was changed, or maybe it's just a holdover thing from '68 or '70.

VIN shows it's a "Michigan Truck" plant truck. District I don't know.

Here's what I came up with let us know if it come's close to your truck
F10YLF33379
131 J F100 4381 C 17
05000 175 4000 563338

F33379 Build June 1969
F100
Y Engine 360
Assembly Plant MichiganTruck
131” wheelbase
43 Interior trim Charcoal black Corinthian vinyl and charcoal black lariat woven plastic
81 Conventional Cab
Transmission 3 speed ford light duty
Rear axle 3.25 (3.3M) Ford (WDM-H -S)
GVW 5000 Pounds
175 hp at 4000 RPM
38 Sent to Pittsburg District for sale
5633 DSO (Domestic Special Order)This truck was ordered not just bought off the lot.
Paint code J does not show up for 1969 here’s for 1970 Red (heavy truck) 1968 Rangoon Red
I'm thinking your truck may have been a special order fleet vehicle maybe fire truck with the color they wanted.

I don't want to high jack this thread but I have a vin question as well. My VIN says the color code on my 69 is NM. I can't find what color this is. The truck was all black with beige interior. Is NM like a special order or something?

That DIS Code shows up on the 1970 Tag as Davenport (IA?) The exterior color code J is also for 1970 and shows up as RED(heavy Truck).
This info is from the Fordification Decoding your 1970 Ford Truck V.I.N. Tag link.

Here's the link for decoding your '69:
http://www.fordification.com/tech/VIN69.htm

Two letters means a tu-tone. For '69, 'NM means you have Wimbledon White and Norway Green.

Thanks Keith for the info. I find it hard to believe that my truck was two tone cause I've tore it all apart and only seen black everywhere. And when sanding it down found the red oxide primer directly under the black. Dash is all black behind door panels and exterior was all black too. The guy I got it from said the old man he got it from said it was just a cab with a camper back and the old guy lived in it for a while. Could it be some weird special order? The seat isn't original so the paperwork is long gone from under the springs
