Hood bracing 1967 F100

Post by travlinjohn »

I have a 1967 Ford Step side that the bracing for the hood isn't fastened across the center. The fit is still good but when closing it flexes and you can see the bracing separating from where it makes contact. What kind of adhesive is used the make the bracing stable?

3M seam seal should do the trick. Stay away from the water soluble stuff.

Tape it off for a nice crisp edge before applying 3M seam sealer

Consider using 3M window weld.. comes in a caulk gun tube and would be neater than brush-on stuff if that is what ya end up with. Pretend yer caulking a bathtub.

Btw, I've got the same issue with my 71 F250. For now, I leave it be.
