Rocker Panels Help

Post by massillon preacher »

Need suggestions, need to fix rust on rocker panel and if you look the rust runs up the curve of the door frame slightly and it seems all rocker panels I see at Lmc, Macs and NPD are straight and don't have the curve. Help?

I have the same situation but by the looks of it yours is the rear door frame where mine runs up the front near the door hinge. Looking forward to hearing opinions

What I'd like to know is if I do have to fabricate my own, what order should do it, kick panel, rocker and floor pans?

pg 189.....you will have to fabricate these because there wider, but they will be a lot easier than scratch
I've had enough and I'm not alone

Yes I know these from NPD exist problem is it's just the strait piece it has not any part of the curve up the door like some other after market rocker panels have. I will have to fabricate the bad part that is going up the curve of the rocker itself.

LMC does have an inner rocker with the curve. Not sure if you could use it and, if needed fabricate from there. Its in the catalogue.

Take a torch and flash it over the rust to find the extent of the damage. It'll also curl the puddle of the metal giving you a good surface to weld to. Per the repair panel, find something close at a junk yard. Battery powered sawzall to zip it out and then fit it in. You can also hand fab it without too much trouble. Hammer, dolly, stake forms etc. A ball pein hammer in a vise gives a nice rounded edge to work the metal against. Fit a bunch of small repair panels together to get what you need.
