68 F100 Flareside Rear Box Sill problems

Post by Fordyarddog »

I'm working on the rear box sill on my 68 F100 Flareside. I have to replace some areas around the holes. The holes size is 3/8 x 1/2 like a slot. How can I cut these holes. I also have to replace the areas around the 11/16 holes where the bolts go through to connect the box sill to the end of the frame rails. When I got the truck it had a 3/16 diamond plate bed. I don't know if the anchor bolts go through the wooden bed planks through the box sill to the frame or go under the wood bed planks and I don't know what size and lengths or kind of bolts they need to be. If anyone has photo's about these areas please post them for me to be able to use them and also where I can find all this information. :? :? :?

I don't hwve a clue where to find the info but I'm cleaning out the bed of my flareside tomorrow and I'll try to remember to get some photos. The bed bolts are a large countersunk head kind of thing. I had to find a nut for one and it was a fine thread, I don't remember the size but the bolt itself was nothing I could find in the local hardware store. The usual retail suspects (LMC< Dennis Carpenter, etc) have bed bolt kits starting around $30. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/FB/full.aspx?page=26 This page from LMC's catalog might answer a few of your questions.

OOPS! I didn't get any pictures this weekend, I totally spaced it when I got involved with helping someone else at the shop. My apologies
