dentside hood on a bump

This one has a 74 hood on it. So would you have to use 73 and up inner fenders or just the newer hood hinges?

I was under the impression it was a bolt on. All you need is the hood.

I might be wrong...been wrong a few times before LOL! Look closely at that hood's front lower lip-sure looks like a bump hood to me. Also the hood latch on the dent bolts onto the core support where ours in on the hood itself? Here's a good pic of a dent hood:

it would be a real easy swap. If you use dent inner fenders with the dent hinges, and dent rad support. It will all basically bolt up and the hood will latch properly. You need to egg out the holes on the inner fender horns to get them to bolt to the bump cab. With all the talk about this,Im going to set a dent hood on a bump tonight and take some pictures. I know it will bolt on easy, I'm just not sure how the lines will line up to the bump.

While the angle is not great it looks like a dent hood to me. The bump has a wider center hump as opposed to the narrow up the center of the bump.

I wonder if it's actually not a direct bolt up...anyone have a dent to measure hinge-to-hinge? Are the hinges a similar style as far as any angles and the mounting surface (vertical, horizontal, bolt spacing, etc?). I would also think that if dent hinges are needed, that they'd bolt up to the bump inners. I guess that doesn't solve the latch difference though...would need a dent core support too or modify existing.

Either way, I think it's a good substitute for an otherwise hard to find bump hood in good condition as they are reproduced and the bump hood is not.

The truck pictured is super sick BTW...I LOVE those Shelby rims too!!!

It is a dent hood... not only is the center a simple small break instead of the wide bump hump, it has no seam across the front.



If you mentally remove the chrome grill from the Dent, you'll understand that it still has that Bump looking lip.

Also note that you don't have to change the inner fenders or the hinges but if you change one you have to change the other. On one the hinges are mounted outside and have a lip going in and the others the hinges are mounted inside with the lip going out. The mounting point ends up being the same but how they get there is completely different. The hood latch is the only big difference in swapping a later hood onto an earlier truck. Hawkrod

Its a dent hood for sure Like I said in the first post I think I put the link in to the whole article on the truck it's a hood from a 74. I have a 73 and up rad support I may use on my 69 I also have a few dent hoods but most have the f-750 hood scoop on them. Maybe when I finally finish cleaning the garage I 'll try one. This is one really slick truck.

I've got a f250 crew that I want to repaint in two tone. Problem is, the rear door trim is about impossible to find. Found some adhesive trim that actually looks decent, but not sure how it would attach to the curve of the bump.
