Thought I'd share. It's a nice conversation piece as its in plain view and unusual to see in such a place.
Took this stuff
And 12 hours later I turned it into this!
Spare tire carrier hinge for my Rover
Yep, lockout is functional. Parked all caddywompus like on a hillside and tire carrier wants to swing on you? No problem, lock the hub! Also a good secondary latch.
Total build cost... $40. And that's really just the wheel mounting plate and new lugs/nuts.
Put an old hub/lockout assembly to use on my Rover.

Ingenious! Now that's what I call improvising.

Cool, nice job. I have a green rover too. Mine's not all built like yours, but it gets the job done.

Well... I did steal some of the hub parts (bearings and nuts) from a buddy's shop chair. He had a d44 hub welded to the bottom of an old office chair
There's another use for ya

Yeah, go team HIghboy/Rover!!! Don't see many of either out on the trails around here. Not sure if you've needed it yet but there is a yard with tons of discos in Rancho.

Are you on LRR or Discoweb?
A walk-in yard? Interesting. I'd love to see it, if you have more details.
I go to the pick n pull In Rancho all the time as I'm only 25 minutes away, but they only have one Disco and it's a Disco II in the new, lame, "premier" yard. and it's stripped. The specialty yards where they pull the parts for you I don't waste my time with. Way too expensive!

No, I'm not on those forums.
I have heard the walk-in yard in Oroville is the one to checkout but I haven't been out there yet. Not for rover stuff necessarily, but supposedly it's huge and the prices are right.
