Does anyone have any shackle flip pictures? Pictures of the actual hanger, shackle and spring? About how much lift did you achieve? I am trying not to double stack blocks! I was actually thinking of front hangers modified to use in the back
Thanks Dave

Re: Shackle flip pics!!!
I googled f100 shackle flip and about 40 images popped up. That should get you going. Be aware of Pinion angle problems.

You dont try to not double stack blocks. you dont do it. if you can't get the lift with a spring you can use one. thats bad enough, but for safetys sake dont double stack. ever.tonka toy wrote:Does anyone have any shackle flip pictures? 72hiboy is completely right. He's also right about not eating yellow snow. It's very salty.

Re: Shackle flip pics!!!
Stacking blocks is pretty unsafe, but making taller blocks that work is an option and so is dropping both the front and rear hangers so you'r suspension works right. I've actually run 8" blocks under a highboy in order to keep the overload springs and it wasn't much different than the 4" ones it came with. I used good 5/8 B-7 square head U-bolts with heavy axle plates and kept them torqued as tight as I could get them with a 3' 3/4" ratchet. I certainly put it through it's paces and the blocks held up fine.
I don't really feel blocks are as bad as many people think they are. With wimpy springs it's hard to get them tight enough with good U-bolts and a lot of people run crap U-bolts on top of wimpy springs.

Re: Shackle flip pics!!!
Averagef250 I agree. I built this truck in '83, it's a '72 F100 short bed.it has a skyjacker 5 1/2" lift with new coil springs and blocks that go on top of the factory blocks. I lowered the coil spring pockets 2" and put 3/4 ton leaves out back for a 7 1/2' lift. I used degreed poly C bushings and control arm drop brackets for correct caster.I put in power steering and a modified and heavily braced drag link. I run 40" ground hawgs.Other than a couple of broken spindles it has performed with no issues .I drove it to the 4 wheeler jamboree in illinois and the car craft street machine nats in indy. I have wheeled with it,ran mud bogs, jumped it,towed with it, hauled way more than I should have;and used it as a daily driver til '96 when I blew the motor. Life got in the way so it sat and the body rusted off of the frame. Now I am starting to redo it, I have the rolling chassis sand blasted painted and put back together as it was. I just built motor mounts and trans mount for a 460 C6 combo. I don't have a problem running it the way it is I just thought maybe the shackle flip would be more politically correct I read where someone used a chevy mount for the front one because it is longer and then flipped the rear one, but I think it was on a '78 and their springs are wider than ours correct? Just trying to get ideas....... Thanks Dave

Re: Shackle flip pics!!!
The highboy rear springs stayed narrow to the end in 77, but the other F-250 and lighter 73+ fords had 3" wide rear springs.
I figure for all the work of cutting the hangers off and cleaning them up a guy might as well build his own from scratch.
