two questions

I have a 72 F250 Highboy and the cab is shot, bed too. Rusty beyond repair. So, I picked up a 71 F250 2wd complete body, no running gear, just frame and body.
Will the cab swap just fine? I know I will have to cut the floor for the floor shift and t-case shift, but is the floor and tunnel the same shape?

Also, I have read several different threads about power steering swaps on these trucks. I want my truck to retain the stock look, no lift, stock 16in rims, 7.50-16 tires etc. Would the 2wd F250 power box be a good upgrade or not.

Sorry, one more, will a 67-69 steering wheel fit my 72? I prefer the classic look.

Basically I want all of my favorite bump parts all on my truck, but still look like it was made that way by Ford.

Here is how I understand it and someone please correct me if I am wrong. All parts of the body to include the cab and bed should swap over with no issues. I think that most transmission tunnels covers are removable so you should be able to swap the one from your current 4x4 if it is in good condition. From what I have read, you cannot use a 2wd power steering box in a 4wd because the your steering components are in front of the axle instead of behind like 2wd. The gear box would move in the opposite direction (I think). Some on here have adapted 4wd steering boxes from newer trucks, I think 77+ highboys with some modifications. You can also use a ram assist power steering which is also quite common.

Finally, I am pretty sure that steering wheels swap over also with no issues. When ever the search feature is restored here, it will be easier to find some old threads for you on how others have already tackled these issues you have asked. Good luck on your project, it looks like a nice start.

Yep body swap with no issues Mine has been a convert since 1973 by the talk of the previous owner.

The steering wheel will go right on no problems.

Power steering is one thing even with 7.50 16 you will like. The ideal swap is to use a 78-79 f250 4x4 four bolt steering box. Slipped back into the cross-member to fit nicely.

Secondly you can use a 2wd steering-box, and it also makes a good swap a company that sopki1 bought from even makes a kit to do it. However we have a great thread here in the tech section about converting your truck check it out.

The 2wd box isn't a great swap. It isn't the right size to fit where it needs to go.

Thanks everyone. I have looked at the article in the tech section, but have also read mixed reviews about the swap.

I know the F-350's, (and I believe the 4 X 4's) also came with the "super cooling" radiator support. Run a search here on "super cooling" and you'll see the difference between the two supports. Mentioned due to your radiator possibly being different?
