F-350 I picked up a while back.

Post by Bumpside Collector »

Here is my work truck. It is a 72 F-350 flatbed with a 360 2V and 4 speed manual. This is a 10000 GVWR truck. It needs a few things and has some rust but other than that it is pretty solid.

Another dually disc brake truck? Long wheel base? Sure it's not a 390?

Wonder what it's history is?

Ask and you shall receive. It is a disc brake dually but I'm not sure on the wheelbase. The valve covers have 360 on the emissions stickers and the vin decodes as a 360. I wish it was a 390! I think the trans is a NP. It a low gear 4 speed but I'm pretty sure it isn't a T18.

The warranty book, owner's manual, owner's card, maintenance schedule, and Ford premium oil brochure. The truck was sold to Milk Market Administrator in Strasburg, Mo. The truck was sold on May 11th, 1972. When I decoded the vin this is what I got:
F-350 chassis cab
360 V-8 2V
Kansas City assy. plant
4.10 ratio 5200# Dana 70 rear axle

That's a stout old truck.
Is that an Australian Shepard?

Blue healer/ spaniel mix I believe. We got her from a lady who picked her up off the side of the road. Good dog though!

She looks like good "truck size " dog
If they get any bigger it gets pretty crowded with other passengers.

That is a nice truck. I've always wanted one of those. I remember when I was a kid; one of my Dad's friends had one, I believe he bought it new and I can still remember how it sounded. Wayyyyy cool.

Nice flatbed there. I'd say it is a 134" wheelbase, or whatever the shorter one is. I know it is 130 something. Looks like you have one piece rims on the front. That is a plus unless they are 16.5". Good score on the disc brakes too!

They are 16" not 16.5" rims so I'm happy about that! I just need to find some rear shock mounts so I can save my back.

The rear lower shock mounts for an F350 are pretty rare. I got a set from a member here after looking for years. The uppers from an F350 up to 1997 will work with only minor modifications.
Here's what the rears look like on the truck

These from an '80-'97 might work too.

I have a set or two in my parts pile.

Thanks for the pics. I have an 81 F-250 that is gonna get parted out soon so I'll check to see if I can modify the shock mounts to fit my F-350. I don't see many of the old F-350's around here so it will probably be pretty hard to find the correct mounts.
