fixed my dent trailer

Post by dolinick »

well i unbolted the four 9/16 nuts from a 1979 extra cab ford truck at u-pull it auto salvage the other day and removed the axle and bearing and the backing plate for the brakes and installed it on my ford pickup (dent) trailer. It rolls now. the old driver's side axle fell off when I was going down interstate 10 one morning on my way to Galveston from San Antonio.

i just hate to part with my old cheby. it runs good and has low mileage although i abuse her a little. maybe someday i'll replace her with another F100. i want to drive the F750 but the F750 will never be practical for me unless i go into some kind of hauling business i suppose. maybe a big water truck for my little place in karnes county. it's only 10 miles into town round trip and i can buy bulk water from Falls City.

I took my dent trailer out to the cabin which is about 50 miles. Not only did the wheel not fall off I hauled about 150 gallons of water with it! Hauled the water only about 5 miles though. I did haul a few hundred pounds of bricks in the trailer out there though. I placed the load over the wheels to keep it balanced. It rode very well.
