dang P.Os

Post by AmericanMuscle67 »

Doesnt it suck when a PO removes all the emblems and rattle cans the whole truck?? Totally sucks. I just received my F250 and just now realized that it has not one factory emblem.. not even the hood letters!! So i thought it was a camper Special ecause of some of the charactistics. then I saw the back end, Ranger. Can it be a camper special and also a ranger? Like ranger camper special? oh and did 390s come in any way shape or form off the lot in a '67?

As far as I know 67's only had 352's.

You sure it is a 67?

Easy way to tell is do you have door lock plungers or just a handle that you move down to lock.

Another way is to look at the heater controls. Do you have 3 knobs that pull out or does it have slide controls.

If you have the knobs and the door handle set up you have a 67 otherwise it is a 68 or newer.

I believe in 68 or 69 the 390 was available.

The motor was for sure.

Not sure if the C-6 was availble in 67 or not.

If you look on your id tag and relay the info here or have it decoded it would tell you what it originally had at least.

Yes, you may have a F250 Ranger Camper Special with a 390 (but the factory engine is more likely a 352). You should try to get the build sheet. It might be tucked into the seat springs. The VIN will tell you the engine.

http://www.fordification.com/data-1967.htm

Camper Special emblems were on the cowling. Some early '68s may have been registered as '67s depending on the State. Check the VIN. What heater controls are on the truck?

I did decode the Vin it had a 352 auto, dana 60 4:10, 6900 gvwr.. and definatly still a '67 it has lever doors and pull controls, and the vin reflects a '67. I just hate that there is no real emblems to tell me anything. I requested a build sheet three months ago, they replied saying the truck needed further decoding, they said because it was rare, or not documented well.

yah dang them! (pretends she isnt in the process of removing all emblems/ trim for primering  )

390s tend to become 352s on the way home. If I remember correctly the only auto trans available in 67 were either FMX or c4s. I remember my 67 parts truck had a blankity blankin Ford-o-matic and I wished it was a c4 lol

I guess I'm confused about whats rare about it. If the PO removed the emblems there should be holes where they were right? then we should be able to figure out what they were from their placement. If they filled them I would think there would still be signs of them on the inside of the pannels. On a 67 the camper special emblems would probably be a PITA to get to however.

There was one other tranny that I know for sure was available in 67, the water cooled MX. God I hate Ford for that one! A total nightmare putting my headers in!

Yeah, It is a heavy duty version of the FMX. You can see a pic of the intercooler and some of the tubing in my photo gallery.

She's doin alright, got the interior torn out right now to do some floorpan repair, and some interior mods. After the repairs are done, I have a set of nice racing buckets, and harnesses for it, and I'm gonna throw in an 8pt cage while I'm at it, Jegs has one for less than 2 bills, and it is designed for the fairlane/torino.
