Where did '67-'72 sell the Most ??

Post by adak57 »

OK.... been reading awhile but not opinionating... but I've been noticing that during certain discussions that there is alot of input from the NorthWest sanction of this site....

Got me to wondering just where the most '67-'72's were sold, during their time?? :? I always remember ads on TV saying to visit your Northwest FORD dealer...

Could it be that there are more '67-'72's still available here because they sold more here??

Wonder if those kind of statistics are available...?? :? :D

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if the NW did have the most sales because this is pick-up country... :)

When I lived in the OK state I bought a 72 that came from Camas, Wa. I have also heard that some years ago Camas used to hold a 67-72 Ford pickup meet. Not sure if that is a fact or not.

I think Lots of e'm where produced In KC Truck Plant,Camas Plant And The San Jose plant And Motor City Plants produced the most. And IIRC some 60-90% Of each plants Production was destined for the other Out of state Dealer Ships Due To Tax reasons. Or Something like that.

Percentage rates may very from state to state. MSRP Should Always be ignored. Must Take Delivery of dealer stock by 04/05/06. All other deals and rebates are void. Information in this post subject to corrections by better knowledged Members and or moderators. JMHO!

I've never seen stats like that, and doubt they exist, since those would have to be pretty detailed. You MIGHT be able to track down production numbers for the individual plants where the trucks were produced, but I really doubt anyone kept detailed sales records from every Ford truck dealership in the country.

Not sure how they were in SD but I do know that where I am at used to be Chevy country.

I think the main thing on that was the Chevy dealer had tons better service than the Ford dealer here.

Now it looks like Dodge is taking over. I think that is because of all the programs that they are running, and they seem to have finally gotten some decent product out there again.

Yah.. It probably depended on the region.. Agricultural areas would most likely have a higher sales percentage than the metropolitan areas.

Then I remember in the late sixties and early seventies there was a way higher amount of Fords vs. Chevys or Dodges (especially the 4x4 Hi-Boys) in the logging ares of Idaho... :drive:

Then there's Texas... It's probably against the law to live there without a pickup.... :D

If you really have to know AND you have a hunk of cash for these types of reports, you might find the data from these folks...up here in Canada.

http://www.desrosiers.ca/

Here is a sample report with Canadian and U.S. sales for 2002.
http://www.desrosiers.ca/pdfs/dar_samplesales.pdf

Who knows maybe there's a 67-72 owner working there and they might do a little charity research for Fordification.com?!?!?!

Cheers,
Bill

Don't know if it will do any good, but I contacted Ford to see if they had the demographic sales stats for trucks 67-72 or knew where I might find that info out. I figured they might know something.

Old halftons, it's the same way for me. I swear around Ballard there must be more 67-72 Ford trucks per capita than any CITY in the country. But if you know Ballard, you'd understand.

There are a buttload of these trucks on the road here still but I think I see more of the '73-'79's. I bought mine in Salt Lake, it was built in the San Jose plant and was advertised as a Cal. truck.

The 1967/72 Chevy truck out numbers the 1967/72 Ford truck probably 10 to 1 in N.C. and of the 1967/72 Ford trucks maybe one in ten is a short bed. To find a really nice short bed is very difficult. Then add in the high optioned trucks and the list gets really short.
