:yt: Amen to that my brothers! :yt:

I had a 76 Bronco (Jethro Sr) 302 W/3spd that I swore I'd never sell.
I even told everyone that I wanted to be buried in it.
I owned it for ten (10) years put over 225,000 miles on it from freeway miles to rock gardens I drove that beast everywhere and it never let me down!
But I wanted this 96 F150 so for a DP I sold my beloved "Jethro Sr" and leased the pickup. (Like selling the family dog)
2 years later I had to turn it in and for what? A F'n 98 Ranger!:nono:
I consider selling my Bronco the most regrettable thing that I've ever done in my 42 years.
When my wife (of all people!) spotted this 69 F100 :D (Now know as "Jethro Jr") I bought it as fast as I could!

As GOD as my witness my brothers come Hell or High water I will never let "Jethro Jr" leave my possesion until the day I move up to the big house in the sky...
Last week "Jethro Jr" caught on fire as I was driving home from the auto parts store. He's down but not out and will be back up just as soon as I can afford it. :$$:

no kidding what a wife... my wife is pretty understanding about my love for these old trucks. I think why mechanics price there jobs on these trucks so high is they can't make any money like the new ones it a pretty quick fix on these older trucks not like the new ones that so time consuming and i can almost bet most would tell you a high price just to make you not want to fix them so you'll buy something new then you can take it to them, but i did buy a new vehicle for the family just because we travel so much but my 76 is my daily driver in all it's glory i love that truck and going to build up another motor and get her fixed right, I have alot of dreams but getting them done is the hard part trying to make time between soccer games baseball baketball and whatever else comes up, matter of fact i have a weekend of soccer tournaments....Terry

I guess why i'm so emotional about this subject is this is our hertiage of trucks that are going away and they'll never come back once there gone there gone  i don't think these new truck can handle the work load like these old ones... couldn't afford to get a scratch on the new one...Terry

Got that right.
These trucks are pre-auto lease where you just turn in your truck without scratches on it after 3 years. They were bought and paid for with toil and sweat and were worked HARD. in fact you still see so many of them on the road because they were TOUGH TRUCKS, not some plastic POS like you get now.

Those plastic components will never last 20 years. look at the sad condition of an '80 ford next time you see one in the wreckers, because there are many more of them residing there than these trucks. The plastic junk just doesn't hold up.

That goes for just about any vehicle these days, the old saying "They don't build em like they use to" comes to mind.
I must say though I have a 96 Ford Crown Vic that I just sold with 200 thousand miles on her and still running strong.
Can't wait to pick my truck up now.

yeah i hear yeah everything on these old glories had a function and with that in mind it was to be a work truck there were built ford tough. i guess i'm dragging this topic a bit much but for the price of a new vehicle you can rebuild one of these old trucks plus start another one and still have it until you retire or even die. I think if ford was to go back to it's roots and build a 67-72 body style truck and design it a bit they might have sales off the chart, or then again maybe not . I'm 36 years old and starting to get set in my ways i guess but have the fond appreciation of old trucks and cars and think all of them are diamonds just waiting for that next guy to breath life into them. Heck i work at a local high school and none of the kids have an appreciation for old school stuff it has to be fairly new which is sad because the really don't know what there missing in vintage iron...Terry
