Car show keeping me busy

Post by FORDification »

Hey all....sorry I haven't been around much the past couple days. Yesterday was the big annual car show here, and with me being the car club's webmaster and official photog, it was up to me to spend the day snapping as many pictures of cars, trucks and motorcyles as possible. Considering that this show normally has between 600-700 of them, it's literally an all-day job. Then as soon as the awards ceremony is over about suppertime, I spent the rest of the evening getting the class results typed up and posted to the club's website.

Then starting this evening and over the next week or so I have to spend every spare moment processing the nearly 400 pictures I took and getting THEM posted to the site. I just posted a couple pages this evening, for a total so far of 61. Man, I got a LONG way to go!

Even with all the vehicles here, there was not a SINGLE Ford truck showing up from the '60s, '70s OR 80's!!  There were only 5-6 from the '90-up and a couple '50s-era. Man, we REALLY need to get some of you guys up here!!

I DID see a '67 SWB along a side street right next to the edge of the show route. I went over to check it out and left a card on the windshield. And lo and behold, I did a quick check of my e-mail right after work this evening and the owner of the '67 had sent me an e-mail asking if there were FORDification members from the area he could hook up with. I replied back and told him yes and invited him over to the forums. Hopefully he'll show up within a day or two.

Anyway, if anyone's really bored and want to check out some cool pictures of the car show, go to www.roadgems.com . You'll see right on the front page the links to the first two pages of the Photo Gallery for the 2005 show. There will be additional pages posted every evening over the next week or so until they're all up.

Here's a picture of the show. There was a fire-engine ladder truck set up at the far end of the show and this photo was taken from the top:

Wow! As if you don't have enough on your plate, how do you do it all Keith? I'm impressed! That's a great overhead shot too! Hey, nice looking '55 Cameo on the left. Too bad about the no-show Ford trucks.

Wow Keith that's very impressive, looks like a good club and a great event. The truck Club I belong to - the Badgerland F100's just had their annual show also, it's too bad it's always the 3rd weekend in September also-otherwise I'd try and make yours. We had 95 register by 11AM cut off on Sat., Valve Cover and Hot Wheels Races, a Friday Cruise with 50-60 trucks, Sat Show and lots of Homemade Trophies. So I can appreciate how hard your group had to work for such a large event. But lots of FUN too. Good Job!!!

I'd have entered it this year in the "Unfinished" class, but they rules state that it has to be running. Of course, with me being a car club member, I'm sure they'd have let me slide on that one. It would have been fun to at least show off what's been done to it so far. Well, by this time next year I should be at least getting very close to having it done, if not done.

Just to give you guys an idea of how big this show is, take a look at the following picture. Look REALLY closely up at the top, where the yellow arrow is pointing to a U.S. flag. That flag was hanging over the top of the street at the beginning of the show route from the ladder truck, and is the same ladder truck the first picture posted above was taken from, looking north along Main Street. I took the picture below about HALFWAY through the show route looking south, back towards the ladder truck. If I'd turned back north and took a another picture, you'd see the same thing! What you see in this picture is half the show participants and spectators.

Well, I'm getting started on another batch of photos to post to the car club site now. :D (Oh, and you guys were wondering how I do it all? LOTS of Mountain Dew!)

Cool, that show reminds me of the Greenwood car show in Seattle. It's huge too. But like yours, no 67-72 trucks.

For those of you interested, I just posted two more pages of car show pictures. Just go to www.roadgems.com and look for pages 3 and 4 of the 2005 Photo Gallery pages. There will be at least 4-6 more picture pages posted over the next few days.

*sheesh*...just past midnight here. Time to hit the hay....and when I come home tomorrow I get to do it all over again....and again the next day....and...

heh....that's MY old truck. That was my '50 'Stude project, the one I got to build up as a car hauler for my 442, until I decided it was going to be too much work (with all the other things I had going on) and that's when I got my Ford. :D I still have a spare hood for this truck hanging on my garage wall.
