I drove my 66 about once a week before it met the tree.
Just acquired my 71 Highboy but I expect the same - weekly.

I'm driving every day.
My daughter prefers the view from a F250 over the view in the back seat of a Mazda hatchback.
12.6 MPG last tank, C$1.179/L or US$3.75/gal :(
Cheers

re: Who drives their trucks?
well i did and do drive everyday its my only source of transportation. My 71 got relegated to heavy duty work only and i bought a 69 with 300 I6 and i do pretty good. It was actually a advantage to have two trucks lately. the 71 gets 10 to 12 and the 69 gets 17.5 or better i like it:)

I drive both of mine. All I have, except for a
couple of cars I almost *never* drive. Lately,
I've kinda relegated the 68 as my "work" truck,
being it has the utility bed. The 74 is generally
my "play" truck, and I usually prefer it for long
trips, etc.. But like this week, I'm doing a big
job, and used both trucks for work. "I do A/C
work". Right now, *both* trucks are full to the brim
with a ripped out a/c system... All the ductwork is in
the back of the 68, and all the equipment is in the
74. There is one model of condensing unit we
commonly sell, and it's so tall, it will only fit in the
taller camper of the 74. Won't go in the 68...
And naturally, this particular job used that tall unit..
I gotta dump the 68 out this AM, before I go back
to the job site... Gotta pick up a slab for the
condensor... The only drawback to two trucks is
double insurance, license, etc... But it sure is nice
to have a backup in case one wants to act up...
I'm just glad both have sixes instead of V8's...
The gas bill is bad enuff as it is... I've spent $55
for gas just in the last two days, and I gotta get more
this AM...And I really haven't gone *that* far...
I'm still strongly considering a dinky 4 banger wagon
as a everyday driver for just putting around. I need
something that gets 30-35-40 mpg... I don't have that many options as far as used...Have been considering maybe a escort wagon, or something
along those lines...I really want a wagon vs a car..
BTW, willowbilly, I'm still trying to improve the MPH
of the 240 in the 74... I think I'm making some headway.. On the open road, I think I've gone from
about 12 mpg, to maybe 16-18+, but not totally verified yet... But I made a run yesterday, and it is looking a lot better than before I fixed the carb.
In the city, it's not as good, but still better than it was.
The 300 in the 68 seems to do 16 or so on the road.

re: Who drives their trucks?
My 72 is sitting on the side of the garage now. I was driving it a couple times a week while my car was under repair from hitting a deer. I drive about 64 miles daily travelling to work, and with money being tight, its just irresponsible for me to drive the truck just for fun. I use it when I have to, but thats it. I just cant afford 20 dollars a day in fuel alone.

re: Who drives their trucks?
Driven every day.
P.S. I also get a trill passing all of those newer cars and trucks on the highway with 4" straight pipes and no muffler.
That big block 352 (original miles) can really roar and vibrate the hell outta anybody who gets passed especailly those who have thier windows down.

re: Who drives their trucks?
My 70 F250 a daily driver? Absolutely!!
Been my daily driver for the last three years. (Every since I got her)
Im my case, I got no choice. Only have two vehicles and my wife has to have the car to get kids to and fro. Leaving my truck for me to get back and forth to work and run odds and ends around with.
I dont mind it though, Would rather drive my truck than her car anyway.
With gas at $2.99 a Gal. its costing me over $200. a month to drive it though.

Used to drive all the time. Last 10 years its been in a modified state of repair one way or the other. Mostly upgrading and repairing put off stuff. Now its a frame off and will be used everyday once its get back together.
