Rain Gutter Gasket
Does any one know where I can get a gasket for the rain gutter on a 69 f100 custom cab?
I tried in the LMC catalog but could not find any thing. Mine is coming apart. Thanks for any information that you can pass along.

By rain gutter gasket, what do you mean? The sealing material inside the drip rail? jz

I believe so. I've never seen a specific gasket for that.

re: Rain Gutter Gasket
You know, people ignoring the drip rail area of our trucks is the reason the roof rusts out in that area which just about ruins the cab once it starts leaking. Of the two 67-72 trucks Ive owned, the first was a rust-through in the drip rail area and I had to do a makeshift re-seal of the area, and the second was intact but on it's way. What I saw was that sealing material in these old trucks had dried out and shrunk, leaving a crack in the sealant around the front perimeter of the roof which, left unattended, allowed water and crud to sit there next to roof metal and eventually rust through.
Your solution to re-sealing the drip rail is probably as good as mine, but the point is it definately cant be ignored. I chipped and gouged out all the compromised material in mine down to metal and rust, and hit it with Por-15. Then painted with enamel -not primer - and will now put in some rain gutter sealant or petroleum based roofing asphalt. I use masking tape when I do this kind of repair to keep it neat and in the intended area.
Point is, dont be lazy. Get up there and check your rain gutters and if it's old and cracked, take care of it and re-seal it. A dry, watertight cab is alot nicer than a soggy rusted out one.

About all you can do is cut out the rust and weld fresh sheetmetal in there. Well, either that or find a replacement cab which doesn't have the rust problems. Personally speaking, I think it would be easier and faster to just replace the cab.

Dig out the old and clean very well, then just use a good quality urethane sealant and caulk it back in. Works well for me.After it sets up it can be painted.

3M makes the replacement seam sealant for this area, It's non-shrinking,non-hardening, and paintable.
