WINDSHIELD information
Are the 67 -72 windshields interchangeable with the 73-79? Seems like I read that somewhere...

Thanks, hows the weather further down south? Humid as heck here, causes rust in trucks...(gotta stay on subject).

re: WINDSHIELD information
My '67 windshield is in excellent shape, however, there is rust under it's edges that I want to get. How is the best way to remove it without breaking? The last time my brother & I tried to get a windshield for my Festiva, we used a piano wire, & cracked it 1/2 way through.
Also, how do you get it started (the initial poking through)?
Thanks,
Drewski

From the inside, take off the entire lip of the rubber gasket with a razor knife, etc. Take your time to get it all off. At that point there should be nothing holding the windshield in, except adhesion from the outside part of the rubber sticking from age, whatever. Try a putty knife to seperate the outside part if necessary. Take time, two people, try to get it loose before any heavy pushing. Piece of cake.

re: WINDSHIELD information
I found when cutting the gaskets with a utility knife that I kept breaking the blades. I needed something a little more durable, so I grabbed my windshield trim removal tool, sharpened the back side of one of the tangs (yellow arrow) and then just run it all the way around the windshield in one motion. I've been using this for at least 15 years now. With this tool I can remove a windshield in about 5 minutes by myself. It works especially well when going around the corners, since you can easily steer it, unlike a utility knife.
