Re: Bumper brackets
Here is a set that sold for a very good price on ebay.

They are getting more difficult to find, but they do come up. Keep an eye out and you'll find a set. I bought my chrome bumper with the brackets for $80.00. I found it on Craigslist a few years ago. It all depends on timing, if a bunch of folks want the set listed they'll sell for more.

So they sell them now? I heard someone was. Are they good accurate repops or those clunky shop made looking ones?td wrote:freek454,

Re: Bumper brackets
I have a flareside that I put a styleside bumper on. I am redoing a full restore and I am going to put a flareside bumper on. I am going to need to find some brackets for a flareside, but I will also be willing to part with my styleside brackets. I pulled them off an original styleside 10 years ago. When I pulled off the bumper 2 weekends ago they are in good shape, thick and solid. I won't be back in Texas until January 4th. I will try and take some pictures and post them on my website when I get back.

Re: Bumper brackets
so you are saying that you have a stepside and have the regular bed type of brackets. and you are wanting the sport type brackets from a regular bed. or are those the same brackets as the stepside with a chrome rear bumper. i need a different use of words to get the whole answer for you.

Re: Bumper brackets
Sorry for not being clear. I know a picture would go a lot further but I am in Missouri not Texas right now. The truck is a flareside. I put a smooth styleside sport type chrome bumper on because I basically did not know any better when I was 16 years old. I found some stock brackets in a salvage yard that I used to mount the bumper. There are some pictures of the back on the truck on my website. I am going to my website now so that I can change a setting that will enlarge the photo to full size when clicked on when viewing. You will be able to see the bumper better then.
I just looked at http://www.classicautopartsgroup.com/pickup/hazel.exe and found some flareside brakets for $90 and a chrome bumper for $110. Looks like that would work for me. I will definitely coat the inner side of the bumper this time.
