I've been thinking again That is usually bad:
So my truck is a Ranger XLT and needs paint and all the trim replaced, I was thinking it might be kind of cool to have someone paint/airbrush the trim on instead of replacing it.
So there would be no trim at all, only a facsimile of the trim painted on the truck.
What say ye?

Done right it could look very cool. I forget where I saw it but an artist drew a picture of an f150 with the rear quarter panel chrome off a 63 Galaxie Painted on the bedsides. It looked pretty cool.

Interesting! Kinda like how they paint funny cars with the grille, bumpers lights and everything all painted on? That would be very cool!

Done well that would look sweet. It would sure be different too. If you do it you gotta share pictures.
I was thinking there must be a trim out there that is similar but sticks on like on late model trucks. I think getting around the bend on the bumpside would be tough though.
I'll probably end up spending a mint on new trim.

Still thinking about it.
I strongly suspect that it would cost MORE than the trim to have done right, and I'll have to find someone that can do it as well.
I think it would work better if I decided to do the two tone job.

re: Opinion on Custom Trim painting
Hey Robert, the painted on trim would look good if done right. Consider looking at other trim used on other Ford products. Like GT-Racer said, there have been trucks with the Galaxie trim painted on that look good. If you want original look, I would spend the money on the metal trim. If you want something different, I would look at having it painted on. The 1950-51 Crestliner trim or 1956 Victoria trim is a good looking trim package that would look good painted on.
